Inspired by David Cronenberg’s ‘Dead Ringers’ (1988), most notably the opening credits sequence. Made with acetate, paint markers, embroidery thread, and a wire coat hanger, the piece explores themes of conjoined twins, abortion, and viewing motherhood and birth through a cynical and morbid lens. The piece was made for an ongoing project delving into the concepts of ‘shock art’, and controversial or taboo themes, finding new ways to preset ideas through experimental methods and twisting the original meanings of ‘traditional objects’ (eg: baby mobiles).
